Wages for all Nursing positions have increased at Family Health Services recently! LPN $17.50, CMA $14.50, MA $12.50, CNA $12.00. A full range of benefits is available with this position, including health insurance, short and long-term disability, life insurance, PTO, holiday pay and 401(k) retirement.


Performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a RN/LPN. Performs EKG's and assists with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures in accordance with level of training and departmental procedures.  Aids other physicians and nursing staff members with procedures if needed.


High school graduate.  Current CNA certification.  CPR certification. 


  • Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and documentation.
  • Ability to safely lift, and physically manipulate patients.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols.
  • Ability to observe and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Ability to communicate using appropriate medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform task with appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct.


  1. Check patients into examination rooms.
  2. Check and chart patient's vital signs and other tests of measurements, as indicated by the patient's age, presenting complaint, and diagnosis, to include a brief  history of reason for visit.
  3. Assists in laboratory tests and is an active participant in maintaining and assisting clinic in quality assurance.  Assists in procedures such as mounting EKGs, Hcts, UAs, and throat cultures under the supervision of LPN, RN, Nurse Practitioner or Physician.
  4. Performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  5. Maintains necessary medical records, updates and fills out records to keep them current.
  6. Reports pertinent information about patients and/or family and errors in clinical information to the appropriate person promptly.
  7. Assists in retrieving and filing medical records.
  8. Returns calls and messages for physicians.
  9. Calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy for the physician.
  10. Performs phlebotomy duties and collection of other lab specimens if qualified.
  11. Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests.
  12. Assists the physician with exams and minor office surgery.
  13. Uses CPR skills when required.
  14. Maintains supplies and equipment.
  15. Stocks and sterilizes instruments.
  16. Disposes of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
  17. Performs duties according to OSHA safety standards at all times.
  18. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Employee must read and understand the general and specific operational, safety, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to this job. 


Work is normally performed in a typical interior/clinic work environment. Moderate physical activity required. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.  Must be able to lift or move patients of various weights.  Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
